• The deadline for registration is August 21^st, 2025.
• Decision on selected participants: August 25^th, 2025.

There is no registration fee for this Training School.

Attendance is limited to 30 participants in total, of whom 16 will be reimbursed by COSY according to the reimbursement rules described below. The Organising Team will select participants following COST rules, ensuring a balance of career stage, gender, and country of work.

In line with the general rules of the COSY COST Action order to participate at the Training School, it is necessary to:

• Have an e-COST profile at https://e-services.cost.eu/
• Have received an e-COST invitation to the meeting and have accepted it within 2 weeks from receiving it
• Sign the attendance list on each day of the attendance at the GM
• Participants from abroad are expected to arrive in Ostrava on Sunday, 7th September, and depart on Tuesday, 9th September.

Participants are required to bring their own laptops.

Participants have to sign their attendance each day of the training school, according to the COST regulations.

For up to 16 non-local participants of this training school, COSY will reimburse the basic costs by paying up to 3 Daily Allowances of 70€ and long-distance travel costs up to 350€. Participants coming from a city closer than 101 km from Ostrava are not eligible for travel cost reimbursement, but might apply for daily allowance.

Participants will be reimbursed individually by applying through the e-COST online system after the training school. Therefore, participants will have to pay themselves for accommodation and food.

To be reimbursed, participants should submit their ticket receipts with the reimbursement claim and carry out their obligations which will be specified by the COST rules.  About 1-2 months after applying for reimbursement through the COST online system, participants will be reimbursed. According to the rules of COST, the reimbursement cannot be sent to an individual, only to an institution.

The training school accepts applications from candidates that have their own source of funding in case they are not eligible for support by the COST Action. In the application form, please indicate that you do not wish to apply for COST reimbursement.

COST training schools are open to researchers (MSc, PhD students, and postdocs/researchers) from any nationality or country. However, due to space and funds limitations, following the COST association rules, the preference will be given to students working in laboratories from countries participating to the CA21101 action.

The participants need to manage their own accommodation, which might be reimbursed within the Daily Allowance, if eligible.

This Training school has allocated several rooms in Hotel Garni (https://hotel.vsb.cz/en), located in the same university campus as the venue, which offers affordable accommodation within walking distance, breakfast included. If you would like to stay in Garni, let us know in the registration form and we will email you the allocation code.

The training school venue is located in the building of the IT4Innovation supercomputer centre (https://www.it4i.cz/en/about/contact ), in Ostrava, in the eastern part of the Czech Republic.

There is a local airport in Ostrava (https://airport-ostrava.cz/en/) connected to the city by Airport Express busses, but the flight schedule is limited, so it is usually easier to fly to Prague (or Katowice or Vienna) and take a train or a bus from there.

Ostrava is a railway hub easily reached by train from Prague and several nearby cities in Slovakia, Poland and Austria. Both Ostrava Main station and Ostrava-Svinov are serviced by long distance trains, Ostrava-Svinov is closer to the venue, but it requires a simple 10-minute walk to the public transport stops on nearby overpass (stop name Svinov, mosty).

Public transport in Ostrava (https://www.dpo.cz/travel/index-en.html) operates on tap-on tap-off principle, where you tap your bank card on a panel when you enter and exit any vehicle, and the fare is calculated automatically. The standard ticket is valid for an hour and costs 32 CZK.

The nearest bus stop to the venue is called Studentské koleje, and it’s serviced by bus 54 directly from the Svinov, mosty overpass stop.

The website/app for looking up all public transport schedules in Czechia is called IDOS (https://idos.cz/en/), where the nearest stop is called “Poruba, Studentské koleje”, named after the Poruba city part.
